Note: When there is limited classroom space and there is a need to begin new classes, multiple classes or groups can meet in a large space such as a fellowship hall or multipurpose room. Each class or discussion group must meet in a circle or at round tables. The teacher must limit lecture. Three or more classes or groups must be in the open space so that no one group can hear just one other group. Three or more groups Tablescreate “white noise”.

Since most adults are unable to concentrate
on more than one conversation at a time,
when adults hear two or more other
groups at the same time there is a
tendency to block out the
conversations and concentrate only on
their group. This in affect creates white
or background noise that is blocked.
